Just look at the graph.

OpenStudy (hang254):

increasing

OpenStudy (hang254):

is it increasing on all real numbers though?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Looks like it's increasing everywhere in the graph.

OpenStudy (hang254):

ok, how do you determine if its: Increasing on x < 0; Decreasing on x > 0 OR Increasing on x > 0; Decreasing on x < 0

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Whenever the graph looks like it's pointing downward, it's decreasing. Meaning the slope is negative.

OpenStudy (hang254):

alright, but what does the increasing on x<0 and decreasing on x>0 mean?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

That's the part where the function is increasing.
