What was life like for people living in AFRICA before they were affected by imperialism?

before Africa was affected by imperialism, it had rich resources such as, oil, gas, gold, silver, diamonds, and many more. The African civilizations were advanced many many years ago before Europe came and took their land.

Many tribes in Africa had some economic development but i think the economy was more structured on land farming.
