Can static friction do work? Typically static friction involves no motion, so at first I thought "no, because the displacement is zero." Then, I thought about a crate on the bed of a truck. When the truck accelerates, and the crate accelerates with it, doesn't static friction cause the net force which makes the crate accelerate as well?
