Muslims practice the Islam religion. Muslim means "one who has submitted," meaning submitted to their one god, Allah. Islam dates back to Muhammad who was a merchant in the city of Mecca.. he meditated in a cave and heard a voice, and he decided he was one of the last of the prophets, so he began to preach Islam in Mecca. He preached peace, justice, charity, and wanted people to give up their many gods and worship the one god, Allah. Their holy book is the Qur'an, the book of Muhammad's teachings.
