OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

After how many seconds would Black Dragon and Wild Thing have the same amount of fuel left in their tanks? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth of a second. (Enter only the number in the form 0.123) Hint: Select the two relevant equations from the last problem and solve them for the variable s.

I really need help

OpenStudy (radar):

Use the fuel consumption rate of 2.33 gal per sec for black dragon and use the fuel consumption rate of 3.06 gal per sec for wild thing Use a 20 gal tank for black dragon and 18 gal for wild thing. Note that the question asks for when the fuel remaining in the tanks are equal. Set up an equation that gives the amount of fuel left in each tank is equal. Let t=Time elapsed. Let x = fuel remaining in the tank x=18-2.33t (Black Dragon) x=20-3.06t (wild thing) now set them equal and solve for t' 18-2.33t=10-3.06t Now solve for t.

OpenStudy (radar):

Please post the value you found for t.

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

8=-.73t

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

@radar

OpenStudy (radar):

I came up with .73t = 2 you review yours and I will double check mine.

OpenStudy (radar):

I didn't find any error in mine.

OpenStudy (radar):

Solve for t and that will give you the elapsed time when both tanks have the same amount of fuel remaining.
