Is anyone good with active and passive voice? I just wanna go over my homework and see if I did it right
Type it up and I'll take a look. A passive voice is when the object of the sentence appears before the subject. i.e. The apple was sold by the store owner.
Okay....Yeah I mean I finished it but I have never been to good at this stuff so if im totally wrong I wanna know what im doing :P thanks @Shatteringblue
I opened up the book to the beginning
I said active....
@UmmmHELP Yes, that's correct(: The key is to identify what the "subject" and the "object" are in the sentence. The subject is "The person or thing that is DOING the action" while the "object" is "The person or thing that is RECEIVING the action". In that sentence, "I" is the subject because "I open". "Book" is the object because it is the thing that is being opened. tl;dr You're correct!
Okay awesome! Mind checking a few more? @Shatteringblue
@UmmmHELP No problem(: Just type it out
Ah your a lifesaver I have like 10 in total if thats okay! @Shatteringblue His hair was cut by a professional. I said Passive
Yes :D Also, you don't have to type them one by one. You can type them all like this and I'll answer (Yes/No). i.e. I ate the apple. - Active The car was sold by the dealer - Passive I drove the boat. - Active
Okay I will do that! They are pulling down the old factory.-Active Pride and some sense of strange honor must have anchored my parents to their chairs-Active This notice has been altered.-Passive I put the sweaters in mothproof boxes.-Active This door must be kept shut.-Active I washed my car three weeks ago.-Passive It would have been fixed on the weekend-Passive Students are doing a lot of the work.-Active
1. Yes 2. Yes 3. Yes (It has a past participle. This is a good way to check!) 4. Yes 5. Yes (It uses "must) 6. No 7. Yes 8. Yes You almost had 100%! "I washed my car three weeks ago." YOU are doing the washing so it's active. @UmmmHELP
