anyone here read Invisible Man? Great read so far(: But i'm trying to figure out:

OpenStudy (math2400):

why do others look at our narrator through other personas?

OpenStudy (math2400):

for instances in the beginning of the book he brings up Booker T. Washington and now like around ch 17, Frederick Douglass, Marcus Garvey and Booker T. Washington (again) are mentioned...anyone know the importance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that Elison, along with Richard Wright and James Baldwin used their writing to address race relations. So, just knowing that little bit, I can guess that being "invisible" has something to do with his status in life. The "other personas" must surely be a similar device that Elison uses to make his point.
