What is the value of (3 + 5^2) / 4 - (x - 1) When x=7? A: -7 B: -1 C: 8 D: 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats (3+25)/(4-6) = 28/-2 = -14 Assuming the entire denominator is 4-(x-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember your order of operations (PEMDAS). In the first set of parentheses, you have 3 + 5^2. Do exponents first, so that's 3+25, or 28. In the second parentheses, you have -(7+1). That's -(8), or -8. The equation thus turns into 28/4 - 8 That's 7 - 8 Your answer is -1. Hope that helps!
