help? i have to factor the GCF of the following polynomials: (an example problem is in the comments)

OpenStudy (azureilai):

What is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4x ^{3}y-16x ^{2}y ^{2}-24xy ^{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i even?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

\[4xy(x^{2}-4xy-6y^{2})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you do?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

Well, what I did is basically reversed the distributive factor. 4 can factor from 4,8,and 24. and I count the least amount of x and y's in the whole equation and factored it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i think i got that. thank you

OpenStudy (azureilai):

No problem
