I need help solving these!! Solve for the indicated variable. A = LW; for L How do I solve it?What do i do??? Solve for the indicated variable. P = 3r + 2s; for s
Solve for the indicated variable means isolate that variable. A = LW. To isolate L, divide both sides by W. What do you get?
L
a/w
Yes L = A/W is the answer to the first question.
so thats all im doing just isolating to get my answer?
Yes.
on the next question i subtract both sides by 2?or I could divide them by 2 I suppose?
No. First you isolate s. It means just keep s alone on one side. Get rid of the other things on the side of s. P = 3r + 2s To have only s on the right hand side first I got to subtract 3r from both sides. What is the equation you get?
(P - 3r)/2
Yes! But write it as s = (P - 3r)/2
How are you so smart?
Different people have different things that come easy to them. Every one has different gifts.
But how do I know when to add or subtract on these type of problems?
