A manufacture has been selling 1000 television sets a week at $510 each. A market survey indicates that for each $21 rebate offered to a buyer, the number of sets sold will increase by 210 per week. a) Find the price p(x) of each television as a function of x, where x is the number of the television sets sold per week. p(x)=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The price of each television is not a function of x. It's set at $510. Period! P(x) = 510 Seems like an odd question as most of the numbers in the problem are irrelevant to answering the question. Are there other parts to the question?

i typed that into my homework and it says it is wrong? but yes there are more parts... b) How large a rebate should the company offer, in order to maximize its revenue? dollars c) If the weekly cost function is 85000+170x, what value of the rebate maximizes the profit? dollars

Well, since a rebate is pretty much money given back after buying, since the initial price of the t.v. set is $500 and then the customer gets back $21, wouldn't the customer only spend $479? The question is formatted weird.
