Solve the combined inequality 3x - 7 > -10 and 5x + 2 < 22, then graph the solution. First one: 3x-7>-10 3x>-10+7 3x>3 x>1 Second one: 5x+2<22 5x<22-2 5x<20 x<4

OpenStudy (ranga):

Watch out for the sign on line 3 of the first one.

OpenStudy (ranga):

3x > 3 is not correct. Check again.

Whats -10+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes .. whatch out for that simple mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.O i use to do it all the time

OpenStudy (ranga):

3x > -3 x > -1 ( not less than -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay thank you so much, is the second one good?

OpenStudy (ranga):

The second one is good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes^ remember that the sign only switches if u devide or multyply by a negative like exmple: -2x<8 x>-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or -x/2>4=x<-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, which way would the sign go? I know they are both open circles

OpenStudy (ranga):

The solution is: -1 < x < 4 There should be a open circle at -1 and at +4 And the solution will be the line joining those two points on the x axis.
