The beauty of it is that you do have a triangle so that makes things a lot easier. So you can bisect the conic triangle into halves to form another triangle: |dw:1382392722259:dw| Now, what they are asking for is the hypotenuse of this newly formed right triangle so you can use trigonometry: \[\eqalign{ &\cos A=\frac{40}{hyp} \\ &\cos\frac{77}{2}=\frac{40}{hyp} \\ &hyp=\frac{40}{\cos\frac{77}{2}} \\ &hyp\approx51.1 }\]
