Someone Help! English 2 ... Medal???.
Use temporal transitions to revise the following paragraph. You may need to create additional details or information. Use proper spelling and grammar. Darius went to the store. He wanted food. He ran into his teacher there. They talked about his latest project. He decided to base his project on gourmet cooking.
this is what i think does this help at all?. One day Darius decided to take a walk to the local store, his objective, buy food. While shopping for some delicious delicacies Darius runs into an unexpected person, his favorite teacher. His teacher strikes up a conversation and they talk about Darius's most recent project. Darius explains to his teacher how he chose to base his project on gourmet cooking.
I mean I thought temporal transitions move in time say forward then back...?
oh. honestily idk what temporal transitions are. i just guessed.
pstrompf, I DIDN'T know what a temporal transition is either, so I went to Wikipedia and looked it up-- Transitions are words or phrases that show the relationship between paragraphs or sections of a text or speech. Transitions provide greater cohesion by making it more explicit or signaling how ideas relate to one another. Transitions are "bridges" that "carry a reader from section to section." Temporal transitions To show frequency: frequently, hourly, often, occasionally, now and then, day after day, every so often, again and again To show duration: during, briefly, for a long time, minute by minute, while To show a particular time: now, then, at that time, in those days, last Sunday, next Christmas, in 1999, at the beginning of August, at six o’clock, first thing in the morning, two months ago, when, To introduce a beginning: at first, in the beginning, since, before then To introduce a middle: in the meantime, meanwhile, as it was happening, at that moment, at the same time, simultaneously, next, then To signal an end (or beyond): eventually, finally, at last, in the end, later, afterward Armed with this information, I'm ready to construct my paragraph.
This is how I wrote it before I knew what a temporal transition is-- Darius walked to the local grocery store to buy some food when he unexpectedly crossed paths with his favorite teacher, who asked him how his recent assignment was coming along. Then Darius explained that his project was about gourmet cooking. This is how I wrote it after I knew what a temporal transition is-- At first, walked to the local grocery store to buy some food. Meanwhile, he came across his favorite teacher, and they struck up a conversation. Eventually, the teacher asked him what he had decided to do for his project, and Darius said it was about gourmet cooking. Beginning: "At first" Middle: "Meanwhile" Last: "Eventually" ________ If you think about your assignment as an interesting challenge, which is what I decided to do when I saw your question, you can enjoy it.
Thank you so much! That makes better sense!!
You're entirely welcome, ams98. I actually had a bit of fun figuring it out--doing the detective work and then writing the "coded" message. (I mean that isn't the way I would have written it personally, but the assignment was a fun challenge.)
