I need to solve the following system of equation 5x - y = 12 x = 12 - 3y I got y = 72/11 (simplified to y = 36/7) but it doesn't seem to work when I plug it in... am I doing something wrong?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Use substitution plug in x = 12 - 3y for x into the 1st equation.
