Technology affecting jobs...how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about it this way: Imagine you were a student in let's say 5th grade. Now, pretend for a minute you were allowed to use a calculator...for everything in math. Would you really want the teacher anymore? After all, why spend an hour doing something, when you can get an answer to a difficult problem in less than an hour. Same thing with jobs...let's say you work as a mechanic, and fix planes. It would take a long process to fix all the small parts, you have to do hard math...it'd take a pretty long time. And then here comes a high tech robot that can fix things much quicker than any human. Do you think the manager/boss would pay you to slowly fix a plane, when this robot could do it better? I think that technology is both a gift and a burden. It can assist you in many different careers, and could save lives. But it could also replace many people, and take over their jobs, resulting in the firing of said person. Does this answer your question?
