Best approach...use the idetity sin(u - v) = sin u cos v - sin v cos u So the left side is just 1 - (sin v cos u/sin u cos v) The left side simplifies to that by using tan v = sin v/cos v and cot u = cos u/sin u On the left side, do 1 - (sinv/cos v)(cos u/sin v)..combine two fractions..and you get the left side.
