Quick question, I was just informed by a 'moderator' that I did NOT explain a problem correctly, how so? When someone asked "What is the product of 7 * 9 * 2?" I responded stating "7 * 9 = 63 and 63 * 2 = 126. Therefore your answer is 126" How else am I supposed to EXPLAIN it? ..... Cause to me, that's explained simple enough.. -.-

the questions posted are not a test of your abilities; they are supposed to be asked so that they can receive guidance and direction on how to obtain a solution .. not a full worked out solution, nor a simply "just an answer" reply

ask them stuff to get their participation, get them involved in the process, let them get their hands dirty and correct them if they make an error.

something this basic needs to have something else addressed.  such as: what about the question is confusing you?

perhaps its an order of operations that they are worried about, or perhaps they are just wanting the answer to a test question ....

Okay, so for multiple choice questions.. (a,b,c,d ...) there must be something describing your choice of an answer or..?

I usually tell them what they have to do to solve it, like "first times those 2 numbers, than you use that to get your variable then you have to times that for your answer" because then they are doing the work and are still getting the answer

if they give multiple choice options they are most likely trying to cheat :)  ask them what they think the solution is, ask them how they got to it, ask them what is confusing them .... they may have just made a simple calculation error that we all make at times

It's the only way to satisfy both groups-the people who want the answers straight up but then the mods see that you try to explain it :P
