one day a person went to a horse racing area, instead of counting the number of humans and horses, he counted 74 heads, and 196 legs. he knew how many horses and humans were there.how did he do it and how many horses and humans were there? (or aliens also:)

x: number of horses
y: number of humans
4x: number of horse legs
2y: number of human legs
Then:
x + y = 74
4x + 2y = 196

Solve: x: 24 horses
y: 50 humans
