Explain how wavelength and frequency are important in determining the type of light.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is important because every frequency has is place on the electromagnetic spectrum. Does that make sense? Or do I need to go more in depth?

OpenStudy (cookie_monster):

If you can...please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. So the electromagnetic spectrum has many different wavelengths and frequencies on it. We only see a small fraction of what is created. The wavelength and frequency differs from wave to wave. You go from the lower frequency microwaves all the way up to the high frequency gamma rays. It is important to determining the "type" of light because different wavelengths have different pulsation speeds. The gamma rays pulse much faster than the light we see, and the light we see also goes faster than microwaves. Do you understand?

Yes.Thanks!!
