y=a(x-h)^2 + k is the vertex form of a parabola. if a >0 it opens upwards if a < 0 it opens downwards.
the vertex is at (h,k).

it's not B. in the graph, does the parabola open upwards or downwards?

also, the way to find h is to set x = h and see if you get 0 in the parentheses...

(x+1) is what's in the parentheses in choice b. so h would have to be -1 because -1 + 1 = 0.

however, the x coordinate of the vertex is not at x = -1.
