what is a contrapositive?
is a term used to define an order of hypothesis and conclusion in a logical statement
if P, then Q, contraPs to: if -Q, then -P they have the same truth value, so if its simpler to evaluate one more than another youre good to go
Given : If a, then b. Contrapositive: If not b, then not a.
Original statement: if p, then q. Converse: if q, then p. Inverse: if not p, then not q. Contrapositive: if not q, then not p. Original: If I run, then I am tired. Converse: If I am tired, then I run. Inverse: If I do not run, then I am not tired. Contrapostive: If I am not tired, then I do not run.
Example: Given: If it is raining, the roads are wet. Contrapositive: If the roads are not wet, then it is not raining.
