The general equation of a line is y = mx + b, where m = slope and b = y-intercept. In our equation, y = 1200 + 11x can be written as y = 11x + 1200 Therefore: 1) y-intercept is 1200 (thats the b) 2) slope = 11 (thats the m) 3) positive slope of 11 means walking uphill. 4) graph...draw aline whose coordinates is (0,1200)..which represents the y-intercept, and use the slope of 11 to graph another point. Connect the two points and you will have your line. Of course, you will have the x-axis representing time in minutes, and y-axis representing elevation in feet.
