finding the vertical and horizontal asymptote of r(x)=x/x^2-16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Horizontal Asymptote(s)..take limit of the function as x-----> infinity. You get 0. So y = 0 (the x-axis) is a horizontal asymptote. Vertical Asymptote(s): x^2 - 16 = 0, x = 4 and x = -4 or lim x--->4 and x----> -4 of the function is infinite. Result: One horizontal asymptote (y=0) and two vertical asymptotes (x=4 and x= -4)
