Your in the car and notice your fuel guage is one 1/4 a tank. Your car gas tanks hold 18.6 gallons. Your car gets 16 miles/gal. How many miles can you travel without running out of gas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If your fuel take is 1/4 full, then you would have (18.6 x 1/4) = 4.65 gallons left. If you get 16 miles/gal then multiply the gallons left by the miles/gal: 4.65gal x 16 miles/gal. gallons cancel and your left with 74.4 miles.
