Can someone help me A person stands on a bathroom scale in a motionless elevator. When the elevator begins to move, the scale briefly reads only 84.0% of the person's regular weight. Calculate the acceleration of the elevator (in m/s2). NB: Use a co-ordinate system where the positive direction is vertically upwards and the negative direction is downwards. Include the negative sign if the answer is negative, and no sign if it is positive.
Draw a free body diagram, listing all forces acting on the person.
im still confused on how to solve it. I mean, I only have the value for gravity, no mass no nothing
First step is always to draw a free body diagram...
You won't need mass. You will need the forces involved.
One of your forces is the person's weight. The other is the normal force.
So... Draw the free body diagram using the drawing button...
nvm, i gave up
thanks anyway
:/ okay
It's not that difficult if you draw the diagram and show the forces...
