Well, take your last example.  Look at the group.  Is everything there in NY the same as in Greece?  Look at changes in language and culture and norms.

No. In Greece, only tourists speak only English. Otherwise, everyone that lives in Greece knows how to speak Greek. Also, 99% of Greeks are Orthodox, and many of those people go to church every Sunday.

They also do not do as much Greek dancing as the Greeks in America do, and do not have as many festivals there.

And I bet Americans of Greek heritage eat more foods of non-Greek origin, etc.  So the food and culture have gone both ways.
