The question on my test is write 6/74 in simplest terms, how do I solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to find a number that goes into both the top and bottom number and divide them. So what's a number that goes into 6 and 74?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6/37 3/74 6/74 3/37 So would it have to be 6/74 then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, that's your original fraction. You have the right idea, but that's not its simplest form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 goes into 6 but 37 wont go into 74 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

37 doesn't have to go into 74.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you can't further simplify your answer you got, which is 3/37, that's the simplest form.

Oh okay I understand thank you!

You're welcome :)
