if f(x)=x^3-8x+10 then find the value of x for which f(x)=pii

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start by subtracting pi fom f(x) so that 0=x^3-8x+10-pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then maybe use the cubic formula which you need to google because it is a long one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i will because i let pi to be 22/7 and multiplied though by seven

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which gave me 7x^3-56x+48=0 but i couldnt have a factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will try the cubic formular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this actually isn't to bad to solve with the cubic formula since the coefficient of x^2 is 0 http://www.math.vanderbilt.edu/~schectex/courses/cubic/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with "b" in the formula at zero most of the equation disappears
