Identify which property of equality is used to transform Equation 1 to Equation 2. Equation 1: 3x = 12 Equation 2: x = 4 A. addition property of equality B. subtraction property of equality C. multiplication property of equality D. division property of equality

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

I believe its D :D because ur dividing both sides by 3 to get x = 4 :)

Another terrible Study Island question. A case could be made for either C or D. For C you could multiply both sides by 1/3 For D you could divide both sides by 3.

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@BangkokGarrett terrible? :O more like awesome ~(*O*)~ xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer is D. it is to basic to multiply each side by 1/3. You just use your rules of simplifying and 3x=12 get the x by itself so it is x=12/3 = 4

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

but Im sure its D :) looking at the level of the question and all, I don't think there is a high chance of making u multiply each side by 1/3 :P

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@heyimrick yep XD like I said XD

I would tell your teacher why both C and D are correct answers and beg him/her for bonus points for being so smart!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@BangkokGarrett she could do that too xD but I would go with D at the end :D
