What element is responsible for this huge diversity of molecules. Describe the diversity of structures that can be formed and the properties of this element that allow this diversity of form to occur?

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

isotopes and genomes are VERY different. carbons are the center of organic molecules, a carbon can form simple structures like methane which is a carbon with 4 hydrogens bonded to it or it can create infinitely long structures! glucose is a very large compound that is in our body. Butane is 4 carbons bonded in a chain with hydrogens come out from every side of the carbons. basically because carbons can for so many function groups (aldehides, alcohols, ethers, esters, etc.) carbons can become infinitely complex and varied by these structures (function groups) bonding with each other.
