When considering congressional representational styles, scholars often discuss “delegates” and “trustees.” Members of Congress adopting the delegate style of representation follow closely what their constituents want and act accordingly. Members of Congress who conceive of themselves as trustees frequently use their own judgment on an issue regardless of what their constituents want. • Which style of representation do you prefer?
