Let f(x)=x^3-8(x). Calculate the difference quotient f(3+h)-f(3)/h for h=.1 h=.01 h=-0.1 h=-.1 If someone told you the derivative(slope of tangent line to the graph) of f(x) at x=3 was an integer, what would you expect it to be ?
I posted the same question earlier, but I was unable to get an answer and I seriously need help on it ! Can someone please help me solve this problem ?
@dnova21 what is "difference quotient" mean?
from what I know its f(x+h)-f(x)/h I tried solving the diff Q by plugging it into my f(x)
ok, i get it @dnova21 so is it setting it up where you are needing help?
Yes and how to go about the problem
k, i'll get you started with the idea, but i'll need you to finish the idea, as long as you understand it ^_^
I've tried (x+h)^3-8(x+h)-(x^3-8x) okay yes please I'll solve it but so far I've been doing mistakes
all over h for my equation
