plse solve this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 men did 1/3 of a work in 10 days.It becomes necessary to complete the job in 15 days. How many additional men were required to the crew of 30 to complete the task?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you need to find out how much work each man did. do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first we need to compensate for the other 6 workers that are in the crew 6/24=1/4 so the other 6 workers also did 1/4 of 1/3 of the work so you multiply that together 1/4*1/3=1/12 then add that to the 1/3 work to get the total work that was done by the crew in the 10 days(1/3=4/12) 4/12+1/12=5/12 so overall the 30 man crew got 5/12 of the work done in 10 days now we need to calculate the work done by each man so what id do is multiple the fractuin by 6/6 6/6*5/12=30/72 which means if we divide it by 30 for th amount of men each man did 1/72 the work in ten days and since the total work already done is 30/72 we need 42/72 more then divide by the amount of work each man does (42/72)/(1/72)=42 but since we only have 5 days left and not 10 we need to double the number to 82 SO 82 more men

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hope this makes some kind of sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so answer is 82 men

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how 6 came in first line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

srry i wrote question wrong .... 24 men did 1/3 of a work in 10 days.It becomes necessary to complete the job in 15 days. How many additional men were required to the crew of 24 to complete the task?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it says at the end that you are working with a 30 man crew but they only described the work of 24 of the so you have to compensate for the other 6 men that you allready have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i got it how 6 came ..but srry i m really srry, i wrotte statement wrong the question is 24 men did 1/3 of a work in 10 days.It becomes necessary to complete the job in 15 days. How many additional men were required to the crew of 24 to complete the task?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same steps but with 1/3 not 5/12 let me get the answer for you really fast

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so each man still did 1/72 of the work you just need 48 instead of 42 which gives you 96 men

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same steps but with 1/3 not 5/12 let me get the answer for you really fast i didnt get this step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im getting off for tonight but if you have more questions just leave them here and ill try to look at them tomorrow
