which depth is closer to sea level , a depth of -1689 ft or a depth of -3792 ft explain why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depth is defined as height above/below sea level negative height means below sea level. so the question is, more depth or less depth closer to surface

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which one is it -1689 ft or -3792ft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

easy if you think about it. if you go deeper, will you be closer to surface or farther away? (of course you will be farther away.) so the one that is closer is the one that is less deep. closer to the surface

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so -1689 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means less magnitude yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at -1689 you have only approx half the distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the surface/sea level

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx! :)
