Terrence is measuring the water level of the pond behind his house over an extended period of time. If the level has decreased evenly by 9 inches during the past 3 days, what is the total change in the water level during each day? negative twenty-seven inches negative three inches 3 inches twenty-seven inches
the water has DECREASED so it is negative a total of 9 in three days
-9 in 3 days how many inch were lost in one day ?
-27 i think?
yes, I also thought so :) they trick us.
so is it 27 inches
"If the level has decreased evenly by 9 inches during the past 3 days" I think they say: in 3 days, we lost 9 inches ?
"what is the total change in the water level during each day? " then how much was lost per day
they phrase it different than you usually would, so it is confusing. anyway if you read VERY carefully, I'm pretty certain they say that 9 inch were lost OVER ALL 3 DAYS and they ask what was THE LOSS IN ONE DAY
the change* in one day
oh so nine sorry i dont know how to read apperently lol
oh wait 3?
yeah and because it was a loss the change is negatv
i feel really retarded right now
like they write "total change per day" and it's not the total in the experiment!! :D
and also they write "it was evenly over three days" and they DONT MEAN /day
anyway you got the answer ?
3 right and if not i give up
it was a decrease and, they ask for change -3
decrease is negative change
i was talking about "loss" all the time so thats why we thought 3. but THEY ask for change.
so -3
yes
-3
ok
was the change per day
