(3x-1)1/3=2

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me solve this.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

is your problem : (3x - 1)(1/3) = 2 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second set of parenthesis aren't there in the original equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(3x-1)\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }=2 \] \[\frac{ 9x -3}{3 }=\frac{ 6 }{ 3 }\] 9x-3=6 9x=6+3 9x=9 X=1. I thing it's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow thank you so much!

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

1/3(3x- 1) = 2 x - 1/3 = 2 x = 2 + 1/3 x = 6/3 + 1/3 x = 7/3 check... 1/3(3(7/3) - 1) = 2 1/3(21/3 - 1) = 2 1/3(21/3 - 3/3)= 2 1/3(18/3) = 2 18/9 = 2 2 = 2 (correct) x = 7/3
