@goformit100 I find it pointless to welcome people to OS without actually answering their question. A is a function of b essentially means a = f(b). The dependent variable means that the variable's value changes with other variables changes (i.e this variable is dependent on other variables). In this case, a changes whenever b changes, but the reverse is not true.
