Easy Medal The movie theater sold p bags of popcorn and n nachos last night. Popcorn sells for x dollars and nachos sell for y dollars. What is the best interpretation of the following equation in everyday language? 2y = x The cost of a bag of popcorn is 2 times the cost of nachos. The cost of nachos is 2 times the cost of a bag of popcorn. The cost of a bag of popcorn is 2 dollars more than the cost of nachos. The number of nachos sold is 2 times the number of bags of popcorn sold.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

2y is a coefficient stating '2 times the value of y'. If 'y' stands for nachos and the '=' sign means 'same'. Then what do you think it will be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shouldnt it still be 2 or would it turn into a 4

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Well it states '2 times the value of y'. If that's the case, then you can't be sure that it will equal to 4.
