You know the distributive property, right? \[a(b + c) = ab + ac\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[n\left(\frac{a_1+a_2}{2}\right) = n\left(\frac{a_1}{2} + \frac{a_2}{2}\right) =\]\[ n\left(\frac{1}{2}(a_1 + a_2)\right) = \frac{1}{2}n(a_1 + a_2)\]
