How and why did the US become involved in French Indochina in the 1950s?

After World War 2, all the European Powers became exhausted This led to the Power Vac *** in Africa, Asia and South America. Colonialists were pitted against the raising Nationalist movement of their respective countries. Soviet Russia wanted to have maximum number of friendly countries in the World to become new super Power. They advocated Communism which they claimed that would bring much needed relief to already war ravaged,exploited peoples.So the Nationalist movement of majority of the third world countries looked upon the Communists for idealogy and material support. Thus Communism started and spread like a wild fire in Asia.Korea,Cambodia,Laos, Vietnam, Burma became Communists after the bloody battle.It started threatening Philippines,Indonesia and Malaysia. Syria,Afghanistan,Yemen were the list of countries from the Middle East. In order to halt the trend, US was sucked into the war and Politics of South Asia
