A rectangle has width 12 inches and length 3 inches.  Every dimension of the rectangle is multiplied by 1/3 to form a similar rectangle.  How is the ratio of the perimeters related to the ratio of the corresponding sides? help me please ;(

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you multiply each side times 1/3 which is the same thing as dividing each side by 3 you are going to get 1 for width and 4 for lenght |dw:1382749119967:dw|

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

your second and 1st rectangles are (perfectly) proportional to each other. to find the ratio you will divide|dw:1382749234377:dw|
