"Jefferson was the writer of the Declaration of Independence, designer of his home at Monticello and founder of the University of Virginia."

Notice how "was" was the only verb I used instead of starting a new one at the start of each item in the list. Each word at the beginning of each list all end in "er" making it uniform by showing Jefferson's title therefore fixing the error of parallelism.

All the verbs are in past tense.
