What outcome did France want for the peace treaty being negotiated at Versailles? ( little brothers history hmk) a a militarily weak, but economically stable Germany b a strong Russia to balance power in postwar Europe c a crippled Germany unable to threaten France in the future d a generous peace for Germany to avoid future revenge

The most known peace treaty negotiated at Versailles took place after World War One. France managed to get a huge compensation (money) for the damages Germany had caused during the war. Of course Germany couldn't pay the agreed amount, and instead the following arrangement was agreed upon: Two departments, Alsace and Lorraine, which had been conquered by Germany in an earlier war (1870) was given back to France, as a collateral (security) for the huge amount Germany had to pay France occupied the industrial areas of Rheinland and Saar. The USA tried to make the terms more easy on the Germans, but France got its will. As a consequence of the very hard terms, then it became very easy for Adolf Hitler to make the German people want a revenge (so to speak, a 're fight') ... and thus the treaty at Versailles became the seed of World War Two. I would go with C

Definitely c because they wanted Germany to suffer.
