I'm assuming you are doing this based off of the poem "After Love". That is a metaphor because she is saying that the "magic" was love.

A metaphor is like and object or action to which it is not literally applicable so in this case as far as I'm concern that is an metaphor. I've done these poems, you could just write your ideas say stuff like, ''magic'' can be defined as impossible just imagination of a person. Or something like that....
