What did Anne Bradstreet write? What was her purpose, audience, and style? Any help on this at all would be awesome! Trying to finish my study guide before I do my test.
Anne Bradstreet wrote a collection of poems, one of the most famous being "Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10, 1666". She wrote for her own enjoyment, but did end up becoming a published poet during her time thanks to brother-in-law John Woodbridge. Her audience was meant to be just herself, but ended up being most of Puritan New England. Pertaining to her style, she wrote in an inverted way while with might say "I went outside to walk the dog" she would say "Outside I went, to walk the dog." The topics of her poems all had to deal with everyday life, from topics like the birth of children to the love that she had for her husband.
