The solution set of |a| = 4 is {-4} {4} {-4, 4}

OpenStudy (yttrium):

|-a| = |a| = a

OpenStudy (yttrium):

So what would it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since \(|a|=|-a|\) then we can deduce that \(|4|=|-4|=4\) and so therefore putting in -4 or 4 will be true so the solution set is \(\{-4,4\}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|a|=4 is (-4,4) because is can be positive or negative. |-4| or |4|.
