The solution set of |R - 3| = 10 is {7, 13} {-7, 13} {-13, 13}

hartnn (hartnn):

hi magan, use the property of absolute sign that |x|=y gives x=y or x=-y so, what do u get for |R-3|=10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry still dont get it

hartnn (hartnn):

we break up one equation of the form |x| = -y as x=y or x=-y in words, right side = left side, or right side = - left side similarly break up |R-3| = 10 in 2 simple equations. you can do it!

OpenStudy (yttrium):

|R-3| = 10 So what you need to do is to find values that will make R-3 be equal to 10 and be equal to negative 10, right? Hence R-3 = 10 --> R=? R-3 = -10 --R=?

OpenStudy (yttrium):

If you got the 2 Rs there, that's already the solution. Get it @magan ?
