-2(3x+7)>-14
First use distributive property. -2(3x+7) = -2(3x) + -2(7) = -6x-14 -6x-14>-14 Hence -6x>0 x <0
ty
Alternatively: -2(3x+7)>-14 Add 14 to both sides, Add 2(3x + 7) to both sides: 14 > 2(3x + 7) Divide both sides by 2: 7 > 3x + 7 Subtract 7 from both sides: 0 > 3x Divide both sides by 3 0 > x You get the same result.
Use my method if you want to get rid of negatives quickly.
-2(3x+7) >-14 divide both sides by -2 (remember to reverse the direction of inequality, because dividing by a negative) (3x+7) < -14/-2 simplify 3x+7 < 7 take 7 form both sides 3x < 0 divide by 3 x < 0
Use my method if you want to do it naturally. :)))
I feel my method is more natural. @Yttrium, your method is just a traditional method. I avoid dividing by negatives and flipping signs at all costs. In a way, I see that approach as rather tacky.
