Paco uses a spinner to select a number from 1 to 5 inclusive, each with equal probability. Manu uses a different spinner to select a number from 1 through 10 inclusive, each with equal probability. What is the probability that the product of the numbers is less than 30?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There are only 50 outcomes. Why not count them? 1* All of 1-10 2* All of 1-10 3* 1-9 Missing 10 (1) 4* 1-7 Missing 8-10 (3) 5* 1-5 Missing 6-10 (5) Looks like we're 8 short of 50.

So it would be 42/50?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No, 41, because I can't add, it would seem. 1 + 3 + 5 = 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah, sorry. I didn't see those numbers :p
